Hegazi punched Danny Ings... and West Brom were awarded the foul

A frankly bizarre incident ocurred in West Brom's 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Saturday as the 'Baggies' were awarded a free-kick, despite one of their players throwing a punch.

In the 56th minute of the game and with the 'Reds' leading 1-0 West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi and Liverpool forward Danny Ings collided challenging for an aerial ball.

Whilst there was nothing strange about that, what happened next was bizarre indeed.

Hegazi landed on his haunches above Ings and took advantage of the opportunity to slyly puch his opposite number in the ribs.

Referee Stuart Attwell did not see the incident, instead opting to award West Brom the free-kick.

Hegazi and West Brom in general deployed a very physical approach during the entire game, with Mo Salah also on the receiving end as he was caught in the face by a stray arm form the Egyptian.
