Haaland jokes of breaking Premier League all-time scoring record

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland broke the record for scoring the most goals in a single season in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring 52 goals for Manchester City in all competitions.

Moreover, the 23-year-old set a new Premier League record by netting 36 times in a term. He surpassed Alan Shearer and Andy Cole, who were the top goalscorers in the English top-flight.

The Norwegian international gave an interview to 'The Telegraph' and was asked if he would be able to break another of Newcastle legend Alan Shearer's records.

"How long is my contract? Three years and 10 months [left]? So, there is still time to do it, no?," he joked. However, Haaland made it clear that breaking records is not his only goal at the Etihad Stadium.

"That’s something you can’t think of. You have to think of the next game, the season and then these things come after a while. But if I will still be 15 years longer in England then why not? We will see," he added.
