Gokulam Kerala go top of I-League with victory over TRAU

A brace from Luka Majcen helped Gokulam Kerala beat TRAU 2-3 in the Indian I-League. The win took them top of the league by one point.

As well as the Indian Super League which tends to attract many foreign players, there is also the Indian I-League. TRAU took on Gokulam Kerala at the Kalyani stadium in West Bengal on Monday and it ended up being a goal fest.

Jithin gave Gokulam Kerala the lead with just two minutes on the clock, but Fernandinho levelled the scores five minutes later. Luka Majcen put Gokulam Kerala back in front after 19 minutes. That is the way it remained until half-time. 10 minutes into the second period, Majcen found the target again with a second goal and seventh of the season, but Fernandinho reduced the deficit seconds later. TRAU did their best to try and get an equaliser, but they were unable to find one.

The result sees Gokulam Kerala go top with 13 points from five games, one ahead of Mohammedan SC, while TRAU remain 7th on seven points from six matches.

TRAU's next game is versus Mohammedan SC on Tuesday 29th March while Gokulam Kerala face the same opposition on Friday.
