Gibbs-White misses Forest’s Portugal camp amid Tottenham interest

Morgan Gibbs-White has not travelled with the Nottingham Forest squad to the pre-season camp in Portugal, the Daily Mail has confirmed. The 25-year-old playmaker's absence is due to a personal matter and is not directly linked to a possible transfer.
Tottenham Hotspur had shown a strong interest in the player, believing he had triggered a £60million break clause in his contract. However, the move was suddenly halted when Forest threatened to report the London club to the Premier League for an alleged improper approach.
Gibbs-White returned to training on 14 July and held talks with club representatives. It has been reported that the player has shown an exemplary attitude since his return to training.
Forest still expect the player to join the training camp in Portugal later this week. During the 19 July friendly against Chesterfield, the player started the first half and received a warm ovation from the crowd.
Gibbs-White responded to the gesture by thanking the fans for their support, at a time of uncertainty over his future. The player is believed to have wanted his contract situation resolved before the start of the pre-season tour. To date, there has been no official statement from the club on the current status of negotiations with Spurs.
