Gattuso asks Valencia board to sign Matias Vecino

After the unexpected sacking of Jose Bordalas, Valencia's board will announce Gennaro Gattuso as the club's new manager for next season. It is a matter of days before the Italian starts working with his new team.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the ex-Milan player has made a special request to the Spanish club's hierarchy: he wants to sign Uruguayan player Matias Vecino, a player who he knows well from Italian football.
After running down his contract with Inter, the 30 year old midfielder will be a free agent from 1st July and is able to become a Valencia player for free. Gattuso doesn't want to let this opportunity in the market pass him by.
However, he knows that Valencia are not the only side interested in Vecino. The Uruguayan has also attracted interest from Lazio, another big club in Italy. We will see how the situation pans out in the weeks to come, but a number of clubs are interested in his signature.
