Future Saudi move not ruled out for Salah, says sports chief

Mohamed Salah has enjoyed a prolific spell at Anfield since arriving from Roma, scoring an impressive 243 goals in 396 appearances and is widely regarded as one of the club's all-time greats.
And, despite frequently offering ambiguous responses when questioned about his future, the 32-year-old ultimately ended the uncertainty earlier this month by signing a new deal running until 2027, reportedly worth £380,000 per week.
Nonetheless, the Saudi Pro League's long-standing interest in him has not waned. Although the focus in Saudi Arabia has since shifted toward attracting younger talents, Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal hinted this weekend that Salah could still be a part of their long-term vision.
"He's a global icon and an inspiration for many, especially in the Arab and Muslim world," Al-Faisal said during an appearance at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. "He represents the identity of what we're building. While he chose to stay with Liverpool, the connection between him and Saudi football has always been there — whether or not there have been official talks."
The minister also addressed growing media speculation linking top players with moves to Saudi Arabia, noting that much of it is unfounded. "Now, whenever someone signs a contract extension, people assume they were approached by Saudi clubs — but that's rarely the case,” he added. "We have a clear strategy. It's not about signing just anyone. We're building something purposeful."
