Frank Lampard excluded from AS Roma job amid Coventry City links

Ivan Juric was dismissed from his position as AS Roma head coach less than two months after the club hired him to replace Daniele De Rossi. Languishing in 12th place in Italy's top flight, Roma are now in a desperate search of a new manager to lead them until at least the end of the season. 

Well before Juric's sacking was formalised, reports from 'Sky Sport' journalist Florian Plettenberg and 'Gazzetta dello Sport' confirmed that former Chelsea and Everton manager Frank Lampard was a candidate to take over the 'Giallorossi'. That said, recent reports from the same sources now claim that the Englishman has been discarted as a viable option.

Roberto Mancini remains the front-runner to become Roma's fourth coach of 2024 following Juric, De Rossi and Jose Mourinho, as per reports in Italy. Mancini is available for Roma after parting ways with the Saudi Arabia national team - he was appointed head coach after surprisingly resigning from his Italy post in August last year.

With Italy now looking like a dead end, Lampard now seems to be closing in on the vacant manager’s job at Coventry City. According to the 'Mirror', the 46-year-old former England international is at the top of the list of replacements following Mark Robins' departure. As he is currentlu without a job, Lampard would be free to take over in time for Coventry’s next game against Sheffield after the November international break.
