Foyth gives Tottenham narrow win at Palace

The rain was pouring by the time kickoff came around, perhaps a warning sign ahead of the game. Quality was at a low and chances a premium as both sides battled it out in a scrappy affair.
Christian Eriksen was left on the bench and Tottenham suffered almost a complete lack of creativity in his absence. Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko are willing runners but neither can produce a killer ball like the Dane.
Indeed, Harry Kane was well marshalled by the Palace defence, who restricted him to just one shot from range in the first half. However, going forward Palace suffered from the same problems. Wilfried Zaha sat this game out and the ‘Eagles’ poor record without him goes on.
As it was, a set piece proved enough to win the game. A corner from the left was met by Kane, and though his header was saved Foyth was on hand to nod home the loose ball and Tottenham were in front.
Alexander Sorloth missed a golden opportunity to level things in added time. Hugo Lloris - who did not have the best of nights - pulled off a point-blank save to preserve the lead and the final whistle followed soon after.
With all the big teams playing tomorrow, Spurs have put some early pressure on. Palace now find themselves at the wrong end of the table, only two points above the bottom three.
