Foxes drop back to Championship after dismal top-flight return

The Foxes bid farewell to the elite of English football after a campaign in which they never truly found their footing. Their stay in the Premier League has lasted just a single season, during which they consistently fell short of the required standard.
Not even the evergreen Jamie Vardy could spare Leicester this time. The 38-year-old striker was unable to inspire a miracle against Liverpool, who could seal the league title as early as next weekend.
It became clear from the outset that Leicester's squad was lacking depth compared to their rivals. The absence of a reliable goalscorer beyond Vardy proved costly, leaving them with the weakest attack in the division—only marginally better than a Southampton side spared the dubious honour of being the worst Premier League team in history.
Following Enzo Maresca's departure to Chelsea, Steve Cooper was brought in to lead Leicester's return to the top flight. However, a defeat to Maresca's new side on matchday 12 led to Cooper's dismissal, despite the team sitting outside the relegation zone with 10 points at the time.
The club turned to Ruud van Nistelrooy, who had shown promise during a brief interim spell at Manchester United. Yet the former forward was unable to steer the Foxes clear of disaster.
An eight-match run without scoring a single goal ultimately condemned Leicester, who now become the second team relegated this season, behind only Southampton. Ipswich could follow suit next weekend.
The focus at the King Power Stadium now shifts to preparing for an immediate return to the Premier League.
