Former Spurs' Victor Wanyama signs for Scottish side Dunfermline Athletic

Dunfermline Athletic, a modest Scottish team that plays in the second tier of the British country, announced on Wednesday the signing of Victor Wanyama. Wanyama is an old acquaintance for football fans in Great Britain, as he made his mark at Celtic and then spent more than 6 seasons in the Premier League between Southampton and Tottenham.
A defensive midfielder, Wanyama is 33 years old and spent the last 5 years of his career with MLS club Montreal, a club where he arrived as a star in 2020 and where his football faded until 2024 when he definitively lost his undisputed status.
His new team, Dunfermline Athletic, is a historic Scottish club that was more successful in the last century, winning the Cup on a couple of occasions and making several notable appearances in the European Champion Clubs' Cup. A couple of seasons ago, the 'Pars' were in the third tier, but achieved promotion in 2023 and have been trying to avoid falling back into the second tier ever since.
Initially, Wanyama, whose signing has yet to obtain FIFA validation, signs with his new team only until the end of the season. It will be his second experience in Scottish football after those spells between 2011 and 2013 at Celtic, with whom he came to defeat Vilanova's Barcelona even scoring a goal in the match.
Southampton shelled out €15 million to sign the Kenyan international in 2013 and then, after 3 brilliant seasons at the Saints, Pochettino also took him to Tottenham, where his performances were clearly from more to less. The midfielder played for the last time in the top club competition in 2019 in a Bayern Munich-Tottenham, but had previously been part of the bench of the Argentine coach in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
Wanyama made an early exit from the Kenya national team after being left out of a number of caps in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Although it looked like he might return to the national team, his last appearances date back to 2020.
