Former Man Utd legend Keane reveals his pick to take England reigns

England returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Finland in the Nations League, but the question of who will succeed Gareth Southgate at the Three Lions remains in doubt.

Interim manager Lee Carsley appeared to have distanced himself from the job after a defeat to Greece at Wembley by raising doubts over whether he would continue in the role.

The names of candidates for the job such as Thomas Tuchel, Eddie Howe, Graham Potter and Pep Guardiola continue to make headlines.

Former Manchester United star Roy Keane spoke out on the issue, believing the Football Association must make a strong bid to poach Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

The former striker said that if they want to win a title they must go ‘for the best’. "Go after Pep Guardiola, go for the best. Pep's contract is up the summer. The FA have to go for the best guy, I don't know if finances will play a part in it.  If Lee obviously rules himself, and isn't interested, and that seems to be the noises coming out, then the FA better get busy and get the right man".

However, Guardiola has stated that he has not yet decided what he will do in the future as his contract with Manchester City draws to a close. "I haven't finished my career at Manchester City yet, I still have to think about it. It's not true that I'll be the England coach. I haven't decided anything yet, if I had decided my future at Manchester City I would say so, anything can happen in life."
