Ferran Torres and Endrick battle for Copa del Rey top scorer crown

Ferran Torres has converted his 'shark mentality' into a proper slogan. Endrick likes to celebrate his goals by gesturing a gorilla to pay tribute to King Kong. Both are frightening animals in their own ways. And both are also still in contention to snatch the top goalscorer crown for the 2024/25 edition of the Copa del Rey.
Torres and Endrick sit at the top of the charts, alongside Julian Alvarez, with five goals each. But with Atletico Madrid out of the tournament, the two rivals battle for the solitary lead. The Spaniard has reached the tally in four games, while the Brazilian and the Argentine have done so in five and seven, respectively.
Robert Lewandowski is missing in attack for Barcelona, meaning the spotlight is on 'El Tiburon' to deliver from kick-off. Meanwhile, Endrick sees his chances of winning the individual race slightly hampered, as he is set to be a spectator from the bench after starting in four of Real Madrid's five games leading up to the final.
The former Palmeiras teenager has been fundamental in the Merengues' road to the final. He scored two extra-time goals as a substitute against Celta Vigo in the last 16, and a match-winning strike in the first leg of the semi-finals against Real Sociedad. Having also netted in the second leg of the semis and the quarters against Leganes, only Deportivo Minera managed to not concede a goal from Endrick.
Ferran Torres' contributions have been just as vital to Barcelona. The ex-Man City winger scored the goal that sealed the Catalans' place in the final against Atletico Madrid. One of five goals in the Copa del Rey also came in the last 16 against Real Betis, while the remaining four were all netted in the quarter-finals, scoring a hat-trick against Valencia.
Although he played in a secondary role for the majority of this season, Torres has emerged as an important driving force for head coach Hansi Flick. While Lewandowski's starting place is sealed in La Liga - before his injury - the 25-year-old forward found space in the domestic cup competition. At La Cartuja, an extra prize is at stake for the duo.
