Ex-Man Utd legend offers Hojlund tactical advice amid ongoing struggles

The 22-year-old has found goals hard to come by this season—netting just three times in 28 Premier League appearances. His latest outing, a frustrating 1-0 home defeat to Wolves, saw him withdrawn after 70 minutes, prompting further scrutiny of his form.
Alan Shearer didn't hold back in his post-match analysis, describing Hojlund as "damaged" and questioning the striker's current confidence levels and impact.
In response, Ferdinand used his own podcast to share practical insight on how the Dane might rediscover his rhythm and begin to thrive in the final third.
"He needs to speak to his wingers, make it clear what kind of service he wants," said Ferdinand. "Tell them, 'When you're in these areas, this is how I need the ball'."
Ferdinand also urged the youngster to focus on the fundamentals that earned him the move in the first place. "Right now, we're seeing too much of what he doesn't do well," he added. "It's time to get back to basics. Create separation from defenders, start making those runs again."
He concluded with a broader message for players low on confidence: "Simplify everything. Get back to the things that made you stand out. Strip it back and rebuild from there."
