Klopp, now head of global football at Red Bull, played a key role in the removal of Rose after Leipzig's 1-0 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach, a result that left the team in sixth place in the Bundesliga.
Rose was quickly succeeded by Zsolt Low, who has stepped up from his position as head of soccer development at Red Bull to take on the interim manager role until the end of the season. Low will be supported by Peter Krawietz, Klopp's former right-hand man at Liverpool.
Krawietz left Liverpool last summer following Arne Slot's appointment but has now reunited with Klopp at Leipzig. While Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner had been a potential candidate for the role after a successful stint in London, Leipzig opted for a temporary fix to steer the club through the remainder of the campaign.
Rose, who had played under Klopp during his Mainz days, had been in charge of Leipzig since September 2022. However, his tenure ended after a disappointing run of two wins from ten matches, despite the club being only two points behind Mainz, who occupy the final Champions League spot.
