Enzo Fernandez takes up Cole Palmer's baton

England's latest wonderkid, Cole Palmer, had set an incredible bar in 2024: 29 goals and 8 assists for Chelsea in that time. However, the turn of the year has brought him down; he has dropped to 3 goals and 5 assists, respectively, so far in 2025. Fortunately for the Blues, Enzo Fernandez has dutifully taken up the baton.
The Argentine, who secured the win against Los Angeles FC with ten minutes to go, did not just score another goal, but served to crown him as the team's top scorer and assist man so far in 2025. With six goals in each of those games, and despite it not being his usual role, he has taken over the responsibility for offensive production.
Enzo Fernandez has one more goal than Madueke and Cucurella (also surprising for the Spaniard) in that time, and two more than Nico Jackson and Pedro Neto. In terms of assists, he has one more than the incipient Tyrique George and Cole Palmer himself.
The 24-year-old former River player is having the most prolific season of his career. He has scored 23 goals (9 goals, 14 assists), seven more than in the 21-22 campaign, in his last year as a ‘Millonario’.
The great half of the year of the midfielder from St. Martin also means his definitive establishment as one of Chelsea's great leaders, as he adds to his numbers an overwhelming presence on the pitch.
