Elderly Brighton fan dies after falling ill before fixture at the AMEX

It was reported that the elderley fan, accompanied to the match by his son, recieved immediate treament at the AMEX stadium upon falling ill before kick off.

He was taken in an ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, where he sadly died. 

Chief exectuive of Brighton Paul Barber released a statement on the news via the club website, which read: 'This is very sad news and the thoughts and prayers of all of us at the club are with the gentleman's family and friends at this time.'

The home team would go on to win the game 1-0 thanks to Glenn Murray's landmark 100th goal for the club.
