Dovbyk could be Morata's replacement at Atletico

According to ‘Marca’, Artem Dovbyk is the one who is gaining ground to fill the vacant position left by the Madrilenian. The Girona striker, who has been on the agenda for around a month, is said to be ahead of the Villarreal player.

Girona's good relationship with Atletico Madrid could tip the balance in favour of the Ukrainian. His release clause is 38 million, but the Catalan club would be willing to negotiate with the ‘Colchoneros’ for him to move to the Metropolitano for a lower price, according to the newspaper.

Dovbyk would also be delighted to join the Metropolitano outfit. The striker is keen to join Simeone's ranks and would be doing his part to make the dream a reality.

The Girona man is currently the frontrunner as a possible replacement for Morata, but ‘Marca’ warns that there could be more moves to come. The big target for the ‘Rojiblancos’ is Julian Alvarez and they plan to fight until the last day of the transfer window for the Argentinian, although they know that Manchester City are not willing to facilitate his departure.
