Did Militao give away a penalty on Unal? The debate hots up on social media

Since VAR's intrdouction into the world of football, every controversial incident has gained even more momentum in debates on social media. The clash between Getafe and Real Madrid in La Liga opened another topic of debate in an incident on the edge of Courtois's box as well as a goal by Mariano which was disallowed for offside.
Militao knocked over Unal in spectacular fashion, but the referee didn't see anything wrong with the incident. If he had, he would have had to try and figure out if the incident took place inside or outside the box to know whether to award a free-kick or a penalty for Getafe.
This would have involved a difficult decision which, in the end, he didn't have to make, as he let play carry on. This triggered a debate on social media, where quite a few Getafe fans asked why VAR didn't review the play and advise the referee, Sanchez Martinez.
The controversy gained even more importance taking into account the fact that Getafe were facing a unique opportunity to defeat Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane, with almost his entire first XI out through injury or the coronavirus, had to put out a much weaker side.
