Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon covered the wages of Alloa Athletic striker Greig Spence after a reckless challenge put the player out of action for three months.

Gordon fouled Spence with a high kick after rushing out of his goal in a Scottish League Cup tie in September 2016, receiving a yellow card for the challenge.

Greig Spence was forced to sit on the sidelines for three months, though recently announced on Twitter that he "forgave" Gordon, responding to a post that described the tackle as "shocking".

Spence said: "I was off work for three months after this challenge but Craig Gordon covered my wages I lost so I forgive him."

Brendan Rodgers' Celtic returned to action on Friday, drawing 0-0 with St. Mirren.
