Coronavirus sinks the transfer market in Spain: only one purchase

Étienne Caopue, who is joining Villarreal for the second round of the championship, is the only purchase to have been made so far in the Spanish winter transfer market. This curious fact shows that the clubs budgets are reduced by the coronavirus crisis. Madrid, for example, has not made a move.
The club did not even make any moves in the summer market. The management headed by Florentino Perez reacted in a conservative way to the crisis, a strategy that could prove to pay dividends next season.
Other clubs have decided to strengthen their teams, but always using transfer formulas. Moussa Dembélé is one of the main exponents of this trend at Atletico Madrid.
Any other big moves will likely only come if they are vital to the team in question or to replace players that have been injured or otherwise incapacitated.
