Coppa Italia semi-final: Inter and Milan battle for final spot

Inter and Milan meet today, Wednesday 23 April 2025 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals, after a 1-1 draw in the first leg. Inter are top of Serie A and dreaming of a treble this season.
AC Milan, meanwhile, are ninth in the league with 51 points and are looking to salvage an inconsistent campaign with a title. Inter eliminated Udinese and Lazio to reach this stage, while Milan see the Coppa Italia as their last chance to lift a trophy.
In the first leg, Hakan Calhanoglu scored for Inter and Tammy Abraham gave Milan the lead, showing how evenly matched the two sides are. Inter will be without Denzel Dumfries and Piotr Zielinski through injury and Marcus Thuram is a doubt, while Santiago Gimenez is available for Milan after recovering.
AC Milan are likely to be without Kyle Walker, injured after fracturing his elbow, which would mean a significant loss in defence. "He trained with the squad, he's not 100% but he'll be there," said Fonseca about the former Manchester City player.
This season, the head-to-head duels have been very even: Milan won the Supercoppa Italia and one Serie A match, while the other two encounters ended in draws. Inter, coached by Simone Inzaghi, go into the match with the pressure of being favourites and with an eye on a possible final against Bologna.
Inter Milan possible starting lineup: Sommer (GK); Bisseck, De Vrij, Bastoni; Darmian, Frattesi, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Augusto; Martinez, Arnautovic.
AC Milan possible starting lineup: Maignan (GK); Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Jimenez, Fofana, Reijnders, Hernandez; Pulisic, Abraham, Leao.
