Conceicao set to replace Fonseca as Milan new head coach

The 1-1 draw with Roma was the sentence for a Paulo Fonseca who has been questioned as Milan coach. The Portuguese coach had already saved a similar match-ball a few months ago, but the lack of consistency in Serie A has ended up costing him his job.

The ‘Rossoneri’ team has not yet confirmed his departure, but it is taken for granted in the Italian media, which delves into the fact that Paulo Fonseca knew of his dismissal as soon as the interviews after the draw with the ‘Loba’ were over.

Although Milan have decided to make a break with the present, they are not doing so drastically: Paulo Fonseca will be replaced by Sergio Conceicao, who has already agreed his contract with the ‘Rossoneri’. According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the former Porto player will sign with Milan until June 2026.

Of course, Milan have yet to announce the dismissal of Paulo Fonseca, which could be made public just before the appointment of his replacement. According to the aforementioned source, Sergio Conceicao will arrive in the Lombardy capital on Monday to sign a contract that has already been agreed telematically.

During his playing days, Sergio Conceicao wore the shirt of one of Milan's great rivals, Inter. In Italian football, he also played for Parma and Lazio. As a coach, this will be his first experience in the Italian country after having coached Olhanense, Academica de Coimbra, Braga, Vitoria de Guimaraes and Porto in Portugal. During the 2016-17 season, he was also in charge of Nantes.

He has won the Portuguese League 3 times, the Portuguese Cup 4 times, the Super Cup 3 times and the Portuguese League Cup once.
