Colwill highlights defensive strength after Chelsea’s Club World Cup win

Levi Colwill described Chelsea's Club World Cup debut as ‘mission accomplished’ after a 2-0 win over Los Angeles FC in Atlanta. The England centre-back stressed the importance of taking all three points in the tournament opener, although he acknowledged the team still have room for improvement.
"The most important thing was to get the win and that's what we have done," Colwill said in the mixed zone. The defender highlighted Chelsea's ability to manage the moments of the game, alternating between attacking and keeping possession.
He admitted that it was not a perfect performance, but stressed that in tournaments like this it is all about winning. Colwill pointed out that facing opponents with different styles is a challenge, but also an opportunity to learn and grow as a team.
"We’re coming up against different teams and that will be a huge challenge, but we’re going to enjoy it and learn different things. The tournament has kicked off, and our focus is on the next game now." The defender particularly appreciated keeping a clean sheet, which he said was key for the defenders.
"To take a clean sheet is the most important thing for the defenders," he added, highlighting the defensive solidity shown against LAFC. Colwill concluded by expressing confidence in the strikers' goalscoring ability and the possibility of further improvement in the coming games of the tournament.
