Chelsea’s Cucurella: "now is the moment to show character"

Marc Cucurella expressed his frustration after the 2-0 defeat to Newcastle, especially after a second half in which Chelsea showed marked improvement. “We are disappointed. We know it was an important game and we lost. We are upset," said Cucurella.

The Spanish full-back underlined the importance of reacting at this key moment of the season. “Now is the moment to show character. Everything we have been building towards, we need to show now.”

Cucurella insisted on the need to forget this game, take the positives from it and be proud of the effort made, especially playing with ten men.

With two crucial games against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest on the horizon, the defender acknowledged that there is still a long way to go.

“We played very well at points and we were in the game until the end and we created chances. Now we need to forget this game because we have an important game on Friday.”
