Brais Mendez to miss rest of season through injury

Real Sociedad player Brais Mendez will undergo surgery after suffering a fracture in his right foot during Wednesday's training session. The Galician midfielder will undergo surgery this afternoon by Dr Juan Zaldua.

It is not the first injury that Mendez has suffered this season, as in December he fractured his ulna in an action with Etienne Capoue in a La Liga match at La Ceramica against Villarreal (0-3).

The season ends on the weekend of 25-26 May and it remains to be seen whether the Galician will be able to play a game to help Real Sociedad return to European competition for the fifth consecutive year.
