Bernardo Silva to debut as Man City skipper against Wydad

Pep Guardiola has always had many “favourite” players as a coach. Leo Messi, Joshua Kimmich, Phil Foden. These are probably the three who have won him the most praise. But the coach's story is historically linked to that of Bernardo Silva. That's why he has announced Bernardo Silva as the heir to the captaincy left by Kevin de Bruyne.
In the words of the coach: "Bernardo has been an incredible figure for us. Nine years here, no injuries, always stepping up in bad times. An example on the pitch. And when he has to say something to me as coach or to the players, he says it because he believes it is the best thing for the club".
In terms of statistics, the Portuguese striker is the player Guardiola has coached the most times in a match. A total of 404, the only player to have surpassed the quarter of a hundred under his command (the Belgian has 381). Almost twice as many as Messi (221) at Barcelona and almost three times as many as Neuer (152), the player he used the most at Bayern Munich.
Bernardo Silva's numbers under the Spanish coach are impressive: 18 titles, 292 victories, 72 goals and 67 assists.
After more than 28,000 minutes of pairing Guardiola and Bernardo Silva, against Wydad Casablanca and in the 'Citizen's' opening match at the Club World Cup, he will wear the armband for the first time, which will be inherited in his absence by Ruben Dias, Rodri and Haaland, the next in the new hierarchy.
