Bernardo Silva lauded by Guardiola for leadership in challenging season

Pep Guardiola praised Bernardo Silva's huge contribution to Manchester City's campaign, especially during a difficult period of the season when the team struggled for form.
“Bernardo, what he has done for us this season… I don't forget! I don't forget November, December, January, February, March when we didn't win one single game, and he was always there,” Guardiola said after City’s win over Aston Villa.
The manager emphasised Silva’s relentless effort: “Running 30 kilometres every way, playing different positions, running, and there was a moment that he was empty, mentally. And after that not winning games, he was tired, he was empty”.
“But Bernardo, in the important games, has an incredibly huge personality”. Guardiola also highlighted the midfielder's adaptability and intelligence, saying that few players understand the demands of patient, possession-based play as well as Silva.
