Benzema scored a stunner

The French striker showed his superb control as he plucked the ball out of the air, before tucking it past Sergio in goal.

The move began when Luka Modric played a fantastic pass over the top of the Vigo defence that found Benzema in space.

Facing away from goal, there was still plenty to be done.

Benzema was equal to the task. He took the ball down deftly, and it ran perfectly for him to fire past Sergio, who had no chance.

The goal moved Santiago Solari closer to the permanent job at Real Madrid, as it was widely reported before the game that a win would secure him a three year contract.
