Benzema drew first blood for Real Madrid with penalty

Real Madrid were playing better than Valencia in the first semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup. Despite the large number of players missing from Ancelotti's XI, Madrid brought their A game to the table.
One of those who was playing very well was Karim Benzema. The Frenchman seemed extramotivated for this match and he was a constant thorn in Valencia's side. They did not know how to deal with him.
So much so that, just before half-time, thre striker got his reward. A pinpoint pass from Miltao from his own half found the Frenchman, he controlled superbly in the area and Comert clearly brought him down. The referee did not hesitate in pointing to the penalty spot.
Benzema, well known for his calmness under pressure, hit the ball to the left hand side of Mamardashvili's goal. That is Benzema's sixth goal in a Spanish Super Cup. Only Raul (7) and Messi (14) have more.
Then, 25 seconds into the second period, Valencia equalised. A ball into the box from Toni Lato went over Cavani's head and Samuel Lino volleyed past Courtois from close range. All to play in Riyadh.
