Bentancur 'conscious' after head injury in League Cup semi-final

It was a scary couple of minutes for Rodrigo Bentancur during the first minutes of the League Cup semi-final against Liverpool on Wednesday.

The Spurs midfielder went down to the ground after falling unchallenged. Remaining motionless with his arms outstretched, he attracted the attention of Pedro Porro, who immediately called for help.

The game was suspended for nine minutes to allow the doctors to intervene in peace and the player was later stretchered off the pitch as the crowd cheered in support.

Tottenham issued a statement at half-time confirming that the Uruguayan was conscious, talking and heading to the hospital for further checks.
