Becks' speeding charge thrown out

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player did not personally appear at the hearing, choosing instead to be represented in court by his lawyer Nick Freeman, nicknamed 'Mr Loophole'.
Fortunately for Beckham, his legal representative could not manage to convince Judge Barnes to throw the case out of court. Freeman had tried to plead that Beckham had no case to answer over the alleged speeding offence, citing that the prosecution notice arrived a day late, one day outside the 14-day statutory window.
Judge Barnes told the lawyer that a tribunal could reasonably convict Beckham on the evidence, and ruled that there was a indeed case to answer.
“In this particular case and on the evidence I have heard, what I find is that it is more likely than not that the notice was not served on the registered keeper of the vehicle in time.” the judge told the court as reported in the 'Daily Telegraph'
“The defendant [Beckham] in this case cannot be convicted.”
Freeman has previously helped several celebrities dodge speeding and parking fines, including Andrew Flintoff, Sir Alex Ferguson and Pepe Reina.
