Barcelona to earn €13 million for Nico Gonzalez's move to Man City

In one of the most expensive and partly unexpected operations of the winter transfer window, Nico Gonzalez joined Manchester City after the English club paid Porto a whopping 60 million euros. A big payment that was very well received by the Portuguese side and FC Barcelona.

The Catalan side, when they transferred the player to the Portuguese side a couple of years ago, kept a percentage of a future operation. Initially, the media indicated that this was 40% of the next transfer of Nico, which would have reported to the Catalan club 24 million in this operation. However, Nico will leave a smaller amount in the 'Cules' coffers.

According to a statement from Porto, the percentage Barca kept for future market operations of the player was on the capital gain of a transfer, not on the amount of the operation. City paid 60 million to Porto, but the team from Do Dragao paid Barça 8.5 million at the time, so the percentage would be applied on the difference: 51.5 million.

In addition, the Portuguese side indicated in their written statement that they paid, as stipulated in a clause of the agreement they made at the time, 3 million euros to the team from Barcelona for half (20%) of the 40% that Barcelona would obtain from the capital gain. In the end, Barcelona will get about 13.3 million euros from the sale of Nico: 3 from the sale of 20% of the capital gain and 10.3 from the 20% of the capital gain from the transfer of the player to City.

In total, between his transfer to the Do Dragao outfit and his departure to the Etihad, Nico Gonzalez, who only played 1,656 minutes with FC Barcelona's first team, has left almost 22 million euros in the club's coffers.
