Barcelona's Xavi Hernandez approves Guido Rodriguez transfer, still waiting to sign

Barcelona have struggled to find a player who could carry out the tasks of a defensive midfielder in line with the club's style of play since the departure of Sergio Busquets to Inter Miami alongside left-back Jordi Alba. 

The arrival of Oriol Romeu from Girona did not bear fruit and Xavi Hernandez's option to change the position of centre-back Andreas Christensen has not been enough to prevent the 'Cules' from struggling in midfield this season. 

Therefore, the Barcelona board has been working hard to find a defensive midfielder who fits the club's philosophy and whose transfer is affordable due to the delicate situation the Catalan club is going through. 

In the end, it appears that Betis' Guido Rodriguez is set to land at the Camp Nou after Xavi Hernandez gave the green light for the Argentine to sign a two-season deal with an option for a further one with the Catalan giants, as reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
