Barca swap plane for train ahead of Getafe clash

Getafe will host FC Barcelona on Sunday at 16.15 CEST. The 'Cules' are already in the Spanish capital. They arrived there on Friday.
Xavi explained at a press conference why, this time, the trip would not be by plane as usual. "We will do it by train because of the environmental pollution. It was the ideal time so that it wouldn't affect us so much. We hadn't done it before because the journey was longer," he said.
Barca announced in a statement that, from now on, it will be increasingly common to see their players taking the train "whenever the railway infrastructure and the competitive schedule" allow it.
"This decision means a major change in elite men's football, given that until now its professional teams have practically always used aeroplanes for their journeys," the organisation explains. In this way, Barca take another step forward in their commitment to sustainability.
The timing of this particular match allows Barcelona not to return home too late on the way back. Hence, it was also decided that this would be the first time the club would change means of transport.
