Bale put Real ahead

It had been a difficult half for the defending champions up to that point, with the Japanese side proving worth competitors while creating chances. 

However, 'Los Blancos' got the breakthrough in the 44th minute thanks to some fine interplay between Marcelo and Bale. 

The left wing had been where Santiago Solari's team looked the most threatening, and at least two times before Bale had to be stopped at the last by the Antler's defence. 

This time though he played a quick one-two with the left back, before slotting a finish into the bottom corner with the 'keeper stranded. 

It comes as some relief to Bale, who had missed a golden opportunity earlier in the game after returning to the squad following injury.
