Bad news for Madrid: Militao out of action for six months

Real Madrid faced Athletic in their first match of the 2023/24 season in La Liga and won 2-0 thanks to goals scored by Rodrygo Goes and Jude Bellingham. However, they lost a key player.
Eder Militao had to leave the pitch at the San Mames stadium in the 50th minute due to injury and was replaced by Antonio Rudiger. The Brazilian defender was helped by Madrid's medical staff and left the stadium with tears in his eyes.
The Spanish giants announced on Sunday that the 25-year-old has torn his ACL and will be out of action for at least six months.
"Following tests carried out on our player Eder Militao, he has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee," they wrote on their website.
The season has only just begun and Real Madrid are already dealing with major injuries. First-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is likely to miss the entire 2023/24 season. The Spanish giants are already working on bringing in his replacement.
