Atletico sign Rodrigo Gomes, move him away from Premier League

Atletico Madrid are already planning their squad for next season. The Spaniards are likely to undergo a number of changes as several players are set to leave the Metropolitano in the summer.

While the departures are confirmed, the club are working on new arrivals. According to 'O Jogo', the Madrid side have decided to sign Sporting Braga youngster Rodrigo Gomes. He is a long-ranging Portuguese right-back who can also play as a winger and winger. 

Negotiations between the two clubs have been very positive and are at an advanced stage. The deal is expected to be finalised next week. The good relations between the two have been key and the transfer fee is estimated to be around 15 million euros.

Atletico have beaten off the Premier League to secure the services of Rodrigo Gomes. Teams such as Wolverhampton Wanderers, renowned for their eagerness to sign Portuguese players, were also in the race for the 20-year-old.

Rodrigo Gomes has played this season on loan at Estoril. The Portuguese has made 36 appearances in which he has scored nine goals and provided two assists.
