AS Roma midfielder Leandro Paredes set to sign for Boca Juniors

Boca Juniors have advanced the stellar signing of Leandro Paredes, who will return to Buenos Aires on Wednesday to undergo a medical and sign his contract with the club where he was formed and to which he promised to return.
The midfielder from Roma arrives at Boca after agreeing the terms of his contract to wear the shirt of the 'Xeneize' for the next three and a half years, plus a compensation of around 3.5 million euros for his departure from the Italian club.
"Leandro Paredes will arrive in the country tomorrow (Wednesday) to undergo medical tests. If there are no problems, he will become a Boca player," reads the statement published by Boca on the 'Esto es Boca' account on the 'X' platform, where the club usually announces the arrival of its new players before the signing is made official.
The champion at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and two-time champion of the Copa America in 2021 and 2024 will have his first training under Miguel Angel Russo on Thursday in a Bombonera that will have access to members and non-members to welcome their great idol.
The 30-year-old midfielder had expressed on multiple occasions his desire to return to the club where he was formed and where he made his professional debut, and, after flirting with his return during the last transfer window, this time it was finalised with a contract that will be valid until December 2028.
Paredes made a total of 31 appearances for the 'Xeneize' between 2010 and 2013, scoring a total of five goals. Since then he has had spells with Roma, Zenit St Petersburg and Paris Saint-Germain, among other European clubs.
The midfielder has been a key player of the Argentina national team for years and remains an important man of Lionel Scaloni's squad ahead of the next World Cup.
