Arsenal starlet Dan Crowley set for Eredivisie loan

Dan Crowley is expected to join Dutch side Go Ahead Eagles on loan when the transfer window opens next month.

The highly rated Arsenal youngster had his loan spell with Oxford United terminated earlier in December after manager Michael Appleton questioned the 19-year-old’s “professionalism”.

Crowley scored three goals in 11 appearances for the League One side and was recommended to the Eredivisie outfit by Arsenal’s academy chief Andries Jonker, who has a wide network of connections in Europe, and the Netherlands in particular.

Go Ahead’s technical director Dennis Bekking admitted the club are in the market for a new midfielder following a long-term injury to Chris David and revealed that Crowley has impressed during his trial, having featured in a friendly against Bennekom earlier this week.

"Crowley has made quite an impression”, said Bekking.

"He belongs in terms of technical skills among the better talents from Arsenal, but in England other things are also asked of you. He is strong on the ball and can play well between the lines. We see him as a 'No.10'".

Regarded as one of the hottest prospects at Arsenal, Crowley has been compared to Jack Wilshere in terms of playing style and it’s believed that his speed on the ball and quick thinking are two reasons why the loan move is likely to go ahead when Go Ahead start their preparation for the half of the season on January 2.

Crowley would follow in the footsteps of Kelechi Nwakali, who joined Dutch second division side MVV Maastricht after signing for the Gunners in the summer.
