Arsenal and Bayern Munich to battle it out for Real Sociedad's Zubimendi

Martin Zubimendi has been a hot topic in the transfer market since last summer. He was linked with Barcelona to the point that the president himself, Joan Laporta, publicly acknowledged that he had had to rule out the deal because it was not economically feasible. Imanol Alguacil's player has a contract until 2027 at Real Sociedad and his market value exceeds 50 million euros.

The figure, unaffordable for the Catalan side, is being considered at the Emirates Stadium and the Allianz Arena. Fabrizio Romano, a journalist who is an expert in transfer matters, claims that Arsenal have him on their agenda for this summer's transfer window, as do Bayern, although the latter has lost steam among the midfielder's contenders because he is very much to Xabi Alonso's liking and, in the end, everything points to the coach remaining at Bayer Leverkusen.

The coach's refusal to move to the Bavarian club strengthens the Gunners' bid to sign the Spanish national team member. He could fit perfectly in the scheme of Mikel Arteta, who is passionate about the midfield and has made better some talented and future players such as Martin Odegaard or Declan Rice, who joined relatively recently from West Ham United.

In fact, the Englishman is the main threat to Zubimendi's potential starting place in London, where an important position will not be cheap -at a sporting level-. At the moment, the stance of the player himself is unknown, who has a very important role in the Real Sociedad project and would take many risks, in terms of playing time, in the event of welcoming a change of scenery.
