Arsenal agree €40m deal with Monaco for Balogun

It looks like Folarin Balogun will be returning to France this season. After spending last season impressing on loan at Reims, Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal with Ligue 1 side Monaco for the striker.

The 22-year-old is expected to have his medical over the weekend to complete the move, reported by Fabrizio Romano in 'The Guardian' to be worth €40 million.

There was interest earlier this summer as well from Inter Milan, but they did not have the financial muscle to meet Arsenal's high asking price for the young star. The Gunners are wise to the potential of the American international though, as the same outlet reports that a significant sell-on clause has been included in the deal.

Playing time is understood to be a key factor in the move, as despite the fact that Arsenal's starting striker Gabriel Jesus has been out following knee surgery, Balogun has yet to be included in a matchday squad, with fellow academy graduate Eddie Nketiah getting the call up instead.

Monaco are in need of fire power up front as Breel Embolo is out following an ACL injury and captain Wissam Ben Yedder has been charged with allegations of rape, so his future at the club may not be guaranteed.
