It's official: coronavirus has put a halt on Italian football.
All sporting activities in Italy have been suspended until April 3, the Italian National Olympic Committee has announced.
But why such a drastic decision? It must be taken into account that, according to WHO data, there are 6,387 people possibly infected by the coronavirus in Italy. 7,375 are already confirmed. There have been 366 deaths and 622 people have recovered.
This decision affects the next three matchdays in the country's top flight. A new date will have to be found for the 20 matches that will have to be postponed. It has already been confirmed that ten of the matches on Matchday 30 will be rescheduled.
Everything will return to normal if the Italian authorities manage to achieve their goal with this temporary suspension on Matchday 30. Then, the most striking meeting will be between Napoli and Rome, although there may also be changes to accommodate the duels postponed.
