"Miraculous", "the assist of the season", "incredible". These were the adjectives used to describe one of the best plays in the Premier League in recent years: Isak came off the bench to lead the Everton defence a merry dance and leave England perplexed, prompting comparisons with Thierry Henry.
"Thierry Henry? Yes, I can see the comparisons there," said Newcastle boss Eddie Howe, who watched from the sidelines as Isak dribbled past four Everton players, danced over the byline and assisted Jacob Murphy.
"Everyone is different, there are no two players that are the same, but I do think he has some of the characteristics Thierry had," he added.
Since arriving in the summer from Real Sociedad for 70 million euros, Isak has finally established himself in the Premier League. Injuries prevented the Solna native from shining as he had done in Spain and until the World Cup he had barely been able to play three games for the Magpies.
It wasn't until early February that he began to excel and become a regular in Howe's line-ups. He has started eight of the last eleven Premier League games and has scored seven goals in the last eight matches.
In total, the Swedish striker has scored 10 goals in 21 appearances for Newcastle, as well as providing two assists, including a priceless one against Everton on Thursday.
