This is the first time that Pardew has taken on a position as director of football after managing eight teams over the course of his career.
His most notable success was as Newcastle United manager, where he stayed for five years between 2010 and 2015, being named Premier League Manager of the Year in 2012.
He has also enjoyed stints with West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Charlton among others before leaving Dutch side Den Haag after their league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
