Alaba sidelined through injury

Mixed news for Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso will be able to call upon Éder Militao for the clash against Juventus in the last 16 of the Club World Cup. However, David Alaba will miss out due to a new injury.

The 'Merengue' player is suffering a muscular setback in the soleus of his left leg, according to the club's medical report. No one wanted to venture a return date and the Austrian defender's return is subject to evaluation.

David Alaba hasn't played since April 23rd. In that match against Getafe, he started and was substituted at half-time. Subsequently, he was an unused substitute in the Copa del Rey final which they lost against Barcelona.

Xabi Alonso will not be able to count on the Austrian, but he will have plenty of options in his defensive system. Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rüdiger and Raúl Asencio are hoping for a starting place together with the recovered Éder Militao.
