Al-Qadsiah announce €65m signing of Mateo Retegui

The Saudi League has unveiled its latest star: Mateo Retegui, the new striker for Al-Qadsiah FC. The Italian forward's transfer fee is valued at £55 million, as he departs Atalanta after topping the Serie A scoring charts in the 2024-25 season.
The Serie A top scorer is sacrificing top-level European competition for a lucrative contract reportedly worth around £17 million per season. He has signed a deal that runs until 30 June 2028.
Mateo Retegui joins the Saudi League, where he replaces Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in Michel Gonzalez's squad. The Gabonese striker's departure created a vacancy for which Al-Qadsiah FC have invested a substantial sum, particularly by European standards.
Having scored 25 goals in last season's Serie A, Atalanta will now need to find a replacement for their departing forward. At Al-Qadsiah, Retegui will link up with defender Nacho Fernandez, midfielder Nahitan Nandez, and Mexican forward Julian Quinones.
