Aissa Mandi and Villarreal part ways

Villarreal CF have announced the termination of the contract of defender Aissa Mandi, who is leaving the club after three seasons and will most likely join Lille.

The Algerian international defender was not in the plans of coach Marcelino García Toral, so the idea of both parties was to look for a way out.

Mandi, who had one season left on his contract, joined Villarreal in the 2021-22 season as a free agent from Real Betis.

After three seasons in which he has had an irregular performance, after the arrival of Marcelino Garcia Toral last season he was losing prominence, as he was not a priority for the Asturian coach, which has finally led to his departure and allowed Villarreal to save one of the high salaries he had in the squad.
