19-year-old man arrested for death threats against Morata

The National Police have arrested a 19-year-old man in Malaga for allegedly making death threats on social networks against Alvaro Morata and his family after the player missed a penalty during a match in an international competition.
The serious threats were made from the personal account of the investigated in a well-known social network and were not only directed against the footballer, also against his children and had a huge impact on the Internet, as reported Tuesday by the police.
The player's family publicly denounced the facts through the same social network used by the author of the threatening comments.
Just two days after the dissemination of the threats on the Internet, a young man went to the Provincial Police Station of Malaga to report that unknown persons had "stolen" his personal account on a social network.
At the same time, the agents assigned to the Cybercrime Section corroborated that the account referred to by the complainant was the same one from which the threats against the soccer player had been made.
Continuing with the investigations, the investigators found inconsistencies in the complainant's account, who had apparently tried to exploit the complaint in order to create an alibi to dissociate himself from the facts.
The National Police intercepted the young man's cell phone and, during its analysis, evidence was found that showed that this person had indeed been the alleged perpetrator of the facts.
The Police warns in a statement that the repercussion of this incident highlights the growing concern about online harassment and threats.
"These behaviors have become normalized in some areas, such as sports, favored by the anonymity provided by social networks and the speed with which they spread," they have lamented.
