'It will bring out our best' - Carvajal has 'no fear' of Trent competition

Dani Carvajal is close to returning to the pitch after suffering a serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for the entire season when he was at his peak.
The 33-year-old full-back has renewed his contract for one more season until June 2026, and everything pointed to him maintaining his role as a first-choice starter next season, but the imminent arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold could relegate him to the bench.
The Spain international revealed to ‘Chiringuito de Jugones’ that he is “not afraid” of the competition with the former Reds player and assured that he is sure to get the best out of them.
"Competition with Trent Alexander-Arnold? That's for sure... It hasn't been made official yet, but it looks like it," he said of the England full-back, for whom he could end up competing for a place.
"Fear? There's no talk of fear here, we'll be teammates. Competition improves both of us and makes us bring out our best version of each other," he added.
