The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) confirmed on Wednesday that the judicial police had searched its headquarters for potential evidence of corruption linked to mandates between 2016 and 2020.
In a statement, the Federation expressed surprise at the initiation of the process, which aims to uncover events "potentially involving crimes of active corruption, favouritism, passive corruption, economic participation in businesses and tax fraud."
The federative body clarified that it will be resolute in defending the institution's interests and warned that it would strengthen the auditing measures begun by PWC on March 17. It will assist in every process that could damage the Federation's financial or reputational interests.
Additionally, the FPF explained that it would pursue any illicit or criminal practices, both past and present, to the fullest extent. It made clear that it would be "absolutely inflexible" with anyone who has harmed its interests.
